Mesa Ledger closes the month in four days, not nine
A fintech finance team turned month-end close into a timed checklist with approvals, owners and an audit trail.

Approvals routed each month
01 — The challenge
Mesa’s month-end close ran on a 300-row spreadsheet. Dependencies were implicit, approvals happened in chat, and the controller spent the first days of each month working out what was blocked.
02 — The solution
The team rebuilt the close as a Kilter project with dependent tasks, owners and due dates, with approvals routed by amount threshold.

03 — The results
Close time fell from nine working days to four within three cycles, and every approval is now recorded with its context.
I used to spend day one of the close building a picture of where we were. Now I open the dashboard and start fixing what’s late.
